Temper Tantrum

I finally managed to film one of Artemis' temper tantrums.  As you can see...she ignores me when I tell her to stop.  Usually I actually step in and try to get her to stand still so they don't usually last this long.  She was upset because she was the only horse in the barn and my mom had left to go bring Jimmy in.

I think this is pretty common with young horses. I think the best strategy is to just tie them up in the barn lots until they get used to it. If you do it for an hour or two when you are there, then she will see people and horses coming in and out of the barn and realize that it's not a big deal. Another thing people often use is hobbles to make the horse stand still and not dance around.

Other than that, I would just close the stalls on either side of where you tie her.

She looks cute even when she is being bad!

Yeah, the stalls are usually closed on either side of her, on that entire side of the barn, since that's where everyone ties up but they weren't and I didn't think of it until she was banging into it.

She comes in the barn with us pretty much everytime we're there and then she stands tied up while we groom the big two, saddle them up and talk to the other boarders. If both my mom and I are in there and she's alone, she's fine, but if one of us leaves then she starts this.

Hahaha, I'm sorry, I know it's bad but she's so cute too.

I know it's naughty, but she's so cute I couldn't help laughing.
